Dave Tuley, senior reporter at VSiN.com, is in his second season with the Post’s Bettor’s Guide. His handicapping pieces appear in VSiN’s online magazine, Point Spread Weekly.
Falcons (+10¹/₂) over 49ERS: The Falcons are a Jekyll and Hyde team and I’m hoping they can take their act (especially on the defensive side) on the road like they did last month in upsets at the Saints and Panthers. I’m still high on the 49ers and was impressed with their own road win at New Orleans as well as their loss at Baltimore, but this line is high enough for me to fade them here as Matt Ryan and the Falcons offense is still potent enough to keep up in a shootout.
Dolphins (+3¹/₂) over GIANTS: No offense to Giants fans, but this game jumped off the betting-board screen at me when the opening lines came out last Sunday as I didn’t believe the Giants (2-11 SU, 5-8 ATS) should be favored over any team by more than a field goal. And even though they played better than expected before losing 23-17 to the Eagles on “Monday Night Football,” I still feel the same way whether it’s Daniel Jones back at starting quarterback or if Eli Manning plays again. Besides, the Dolphins (3-10 SU, winning record of 7-6 ATS), despite still being among the worst teams in the league, have been competitive since Ryan Fitzpatrick returned to the starting lineup at 7-2 ATS. I’d make this a pick ’em for the outright win, but will gladly take the generous points.
Last week: 1-0-1. Broncos (W). Lions (P).
Season: 13-14-1.
