You came here from there because you didn’t like there, and now you want to change here to be like there. We are not racist, phobic or anti-whatever you are. We simply like here the way it is, and most of us actually came here because it is not like there, wherever there was. You are welcome here, but please stop trying to make here like there. If you want here to be like there, you should not have left there to come here, and you are invited to leave here and go back there at your earliest convenience.
Council ethics
In reading the newspaper for Thursday, Dec. 5, it looks to me like some of our locally elected officials could use a little lesson in … ethics. Sad to know that people without ethics are being elected to local positions. Maybe we can do better in the future.
After reading the paper (Wednesday) and (Thursday), I guess we have two Hillarys on our City Council.
City spending
Can someone please tell me how we don’t own our own city buildings, we have to raise the water and electric rates, yet the city spends another $7 million on open space? I don’t get it.
Hungry children
Mr. Trump wants to reduce the number of children and families getting food stamps. This means more children will be hungry at school, do less well at school, and the outcome we’ll pay for in the future.
Robocalls
I’m watching C-SPAN, and it’s the U.S. House. … I see a lot of representatives, both sides of the aisle. They are talking about robocalls and robotexts, and for some reason … it has to be that they have to make your point clear, whereas to me it seems it’s a no-brainer. Just vote against it, the robocalls and so on. … No need to waste time. Just do it. I don’t see what the problem is here.
Blame McConnell
The Democrats in the House of Representatives have passed legislation trying to get some real work done. It is the Republican leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, who has not allowed bills to come to the floor of the Senate for even a debate. So nothing has been done about infrastructure, cybersecurity or immigration, not because of the Democrats or Nancy Pelosi but because of Mitch McConnell and the Republicans. That’s reality.
Liberal terms
Liberals used to call anybody they didn’t like racist and Nazi. I’ve noticed now they’ve switched over to white supremacist, even if the person isn’t even white. Do they think that really is going to work for them? Do they think we’re going to listen to them and really care what their opinion is when it so obviously absurd?
