Grand Island airport to add TSA Pre-Check line for security - KSNB Local 4

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - After a record breaking year in 2019, Central Nebraska Regional Airport is making changes to make getting through security run smoother. The airport added a new TSA Pre-Check line a few weeks ago and says so far it's going really well.

TSA Pre-Check is for frequent fliers to have a shorter line and to skip parts of the process such as taking shoes off or liquids out of their bags. So far it's been helpful and staff is expecting for that to continue, especially during the airports busiest times.

"Occasionally we'll have Allegiant and American airlines at the same time so you're looking at well over 200 passengers needing to be screened," CNRA Executive Director Michael Olson told Local4 News. "That's a lot of passengers we have to get through in such a short time."

The change is coming after the airport saw 141,000 travelers come through their doors last year. They say the changes will make it more comfortable for frequent fliers, but also other passengers as well.

"It was added as kind of like a benefit for those frequent fliers and it's also considered a blended line in the fact that if there's no Pre-Check passengers, they'll start using the Pre-Check line," Olson said.
