TC Line calls for Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019 - Longmont Times-Call

Longmont speeders

I just want to say, I’m ready to be deputized. I don’t understand how efficient these electronic speed signs all over Longmont are, when you drive by and see them light up in red, “Slow down,” with all the people next to you speeding through them. Wow. Money well spent. When was the last time you saw a police officer have someone pulled over for speeding or running a red light? We need police presence.

Elijah Cummings

This goes out to one of the greatest men to walk the halls of Congress. Elijah Cummings, you will be missed.

Math skills

The comment in the TC Line today asking for help with a simple problem of long division involving taxes and population is a sad example of the inadequacy of mathematical skills for too many Americans.

Police, fire, pay

Residence of Firestone and Frederick. I got news for you: Growth does not pay for itself. You the taxpayer pay for growth. So if you want quality police protection and fire protection, you’re going to have to pay for it in increase taxes. Remember, the Gallagher Amendment and growth have handicapped both of these functions.

TC bias

What good does the TC Line do when you print on a daily basis the feelings and opinions of the residents of Longmont? You point out the shortcomings and misgivings of your own left-leaning bias for all to see. You seem to think by printing out your blatant bias that it somehow absolves you of actually having to do anything to correct the malfeasance you do on a daily basis. It’s like an actual murderer running around free and we all know it, but nobody’s held accountable and nobody does anything about it. If you have no intention of respecting and publishing equal and fair viewpoints of the news, let me know now so I can cancel my subscription.

With the Dems

I have to tend to agree with the Democrats. Let’s just get rid of the first 10 amendments to the Constitution. Let’s grab everything and grab all control.

Talk to your rep

We are a republic, not a democracy. If you don’t like the way your state representative is allocating some money or you think that something you want is not getting funded properly, you should be trying to convince him that his priorities are wrong. If you really feel like you have to throw money at him, then raise taxes and he’ll continue to spend according to his priorities, not according to yours. It’s a very simple concept. You can get it if you try.

Death and taxes

The saying goes that there are only two sure things in life: death and and taxes. So stop wasting your time complaining about taxes.

New Mexico

Well, folks. If you’re planning a winter getaway to Taos or Santa Fe, it sounds like you’re going to need to apply for a passport.
