Red-light runners
I’ve seen some calls into the TC Line about the Main Street speeders. I’m calling about the seemingly never-ending red-light runners. I feel the police are uninterested, incapable or oblivious. … If nothing else … they have to see this when they’re off duty. Don’t raise our taxes. Make these scofflaws pay. The city will have more money than it knows what to do with, and the streets will be safer. And some of the cops will actually have something to do.
Our tax money
Everybody would like someone else to pay for what we need. Dim comments about state finances miss an important point. Even after we send or contribute tax money, it’s still our money — everyone’s. If we can’t appreciate our democracy, we will lose it. And if Prop CC fails, there will be no more complaining about our roads or schools.
Douglas Bruce
The TABOR Amendment was the brainchild of Douglas Bruce, a right-wing Republican nut job. Bruce … was eventually convicted on four felony counts, including ….tax (evasion). TABOR should be repealed. Vote yes on CC. At least that is a start.
GOP and impeachment
This is about top Republicans saying the impeachment resolution is too little, too late. That train left the station a long time ago. A judge said last week they didn’t even have to give you any kind notice whatsoever, and you’ve had 47 Republicans in these hearings since the start.
Nationals fans
I was watching the World Series — I’m a big baseball fan — and I am absolutely and totally, unequivocally disappointed in the Washington Nationals fans. President Trump gave the courtesy of attending a baseball game, a common American tradition. They started screaming “Lock him up.” Well, I was a Senators fan; I was rooting for them. I’m rooting for the Astros now. Go Astros!
Trump’s raid
I was first very pleased that Trump approved the raid that killed the ISIS leader. Then I learned that he knew about it before he pulled the troops away from the Kurds, and that required the raid to occur from a much larger distance, at a much greater risk to those involved and whether the mission would succeed.
Great picture
I’m just calling in reference to the photograph by Mr. Jeremy Papasso, the staff photographer there for the Times-Call. It just brought a smile to my face and took me back to my younger self, with the kids sledding down the snow hill. It made my day to see them smiling and enjoying some kind of activity away from their laptops and cell phones. A great picture. Thanks for printing it.
