TC Line calls for Friday, Nov. 1, 2019 - Longmont Times-Call

Already enough

Moneys from Lotto, marijuana and liquor taxes and all the other taxes we pay should be enough to run a city or state. Finance departments need to start thinking they’re spending their own money rather than someone else’s. In other words, budget, just like we have to do. Otherwise, exempt us old and poor from further taxation.

Proposition CC

OK. All the Scrooges in the neighborhood go ahead and vote against Proposition CC. The rest of us are going to vote for it because we want to support the community and our neighbors. Just remember what Scrooge learned: You can’t take it with you.

Enviros chilled

Sustainable Resilient Longmont has been awfully quiet during this week’s cold and snow. Be wary of these Green New Deal fanatics, who will destroy the quality of life in Longmont, just like California.

Death trap

This is about driving in Longmont. I don’t drive, but you’ve added (thousands of people) to this town without adding any infrastructure to support that. It’s going to get a lot worse before it gets any better, especially in my neck of the woods. When they open that car wash up there at 18th and Hover, you’re going to have to put another light in there, and it’s right across the street from the other car wash, I might add. There was no need or necessity for anything like that, but that’s going to be a death trap getting out of there. Please know that in advance.

Police and traffic

The (call) from police services is interesting, with 5,777 violations in the year. I’ve lived here seven years, and I don’t think I’ve seen two traffic stops. And the other interesting thing is, why doesn’t the Times-Call and the police department print those zone maps that they used to print for the police department? Are those violations speeding violations or registration violations or parking violations or abandoned car violations? How many are speeding, and what is the revenue from those stops?

This is in reference to the speeding and the running of the red lights. Our city police officers have their hands full with the day-to-day activities that go on in the city to keep us safe. Once you get a driver’s license you should be old enough to know what the law is. You don’t run red lights. A speed limit is to be obeyed. They are not our Big Brother. … We should be adult and grown-up enough to abide by the laws.

Voting musts

“Deny the vote:” I loved that (call). Those four items are musts for anyone that wants to vote in this country.
