Talk focuses on trip to Vietnam
Backpacker, environmentalist and hike leader John Howerton with his partner Jonifer will present a slideshow on their trip to Vietnam at 7 p.m. Jan.16 at the Live Oak (Green) Grange Hall,1900 17th Ave.
The escapade took them on boats, scooters, bikes, buses and trains. Navigating Hanoi with 8 million people and 4 million scooters was quite the challenge. Being in Vietnam during Tet – the lunar New Year festival — was a surprise treat with lots of flowers and red and gold flags everywhere.
Howerton will share their experiences with monkeys, temples, colorful markets, mountains, hotels, great street food, parks and pagodas.
The free talk is presented by the Santa Cruz Group of the Sierra Club. All are welcome. For information, visit sierraclub.org.
