The calm and mild weather pattern that has persisted for most of this month in New Jersey will spell good news for the thousands flocking to President Donald Trump’s campaign rally Tuesday in Wildwood — especially for those who have been camping out in the parking lot outside the Wildwoods Convention Center.
For late January, it’s tough to complain about this forecast from the National Weather Service: Mostly sunny skies, with temperatures hovering around 33 degrees in the morning, climbing to the mid-40s in the afternoon and staying above the freezing mark Tuesday night. And no rain, snow or sleet in sight.
There’s just one problem for the fans and protesters camping out or waiting on long lines outside the convention center: A steady breeze will blow throughout the day, ranging from 13 mph to 18 mph. That will make it feel like it’s in the mid- to upper-20s in the morning, the low 30s in the afternoon and the 20s Tuesday night.
So if you are heading to the rally, make sure you bundle up, bring a hat and gloves and perhaps a blanket for extra warmth. Despite our unseasonably mild January, it’s still winter.
Here’s a look at the current Wildwood forecast from the National Weather Service’s regional office in New Jersey. In case you’re wondering, temperatures in southern Cape May County normally range from a low of 28 to a high of 42 in late January.
