The Popeye’s chicken sandwich is so hot that one woman was willing to pay for a bite with her car’s paint job.
The poultry-crazed motorist was filmed slamming her gray Mercedes into some concrete bollards in an apparent attempt to cut the drive-thru line at one of the fast-food chain’s Los Angeles locations, according to a video posted on Instagram Tuesday.
Even a crowd of onlookers yelling at her failed to get her to back up and end her attempt to jump the long line.
“Damn! Damn, you’re f–king your shit up!” shouted one witness as the side paneling on her luxury ride scraped and bucked against the parking lot poles.
A Popeye’s employee can be seen emerging from the restaurant and trying to get her to back up, to no avail.
The video ends with the filmmaker panning to a diner who was watching the debacle with a chicken sandwich in hand.
Someone asks, “Is it that worth it?”
She smiles as she takes a bite and nods “Yes.”
It was unclear if the woman ever got to order. But the scene was just the latest madness related to Popeye’s coveted chicken sandwich, which returned to the eatery’s menu on Sunday.
Kevin Tyrell Davis, 28, was fatally stabbed at a Maryland Popeye’s Monday night after he attempted to cut a line designated for the new sandwich. Prince George’s County Police are still searching for an unidentified man involved in the attack.
The chain had first introduced the sandwich in August, but sold out in a month after mobs of diners flocked to stores across the country.
